CESP Participation

Participation in the Community Engaged Scholars Program takes place in cohorts that run at set times during the year. Each cohort lasts for a defined period, during which you take part in scheduled sessions and continue working on your project between meetings.

When you participate, you join a small group of learners who are each working on their own ideas. Sessions provide structure, space for discussion, and time to think more clearly about your work. Much of your progress happens between sessions as you continue developing your project on your own.

Cohorts follow a set schedule, and participation is expected throughout the full duration. This means attending sessions, staying engaged with your work, and making use of the time and support available. The structure is consistent so that you can build momentum and make steady progress over time.

Each cohort has a limited number of participants to keep the group focused and manageable, while still giving you space to concentrate on your own work.

Upcoming Cohorts

Cohorts are offered at specific points during the year rather than on a rolling basis. You apply for a particular cohort and participate during that time.

How to Apply

If you decide to participate, the next step is to complete the application. The application asks you to describe what you would like to work on and helps determine whether the program is a good fit for you at this time. You do not need to have a fully developed project, but you should have a clear direction and be ready to spend time working on it during the program.

Before applying, it may be helpful to review the program details, including participant expectations and cohort timing, so that you can decide whether the structure and schedule work for you.

After You Apply

After you submit your application, it will be reviewed to determine whether the program aligns with what you are looking for and whether the timing is appropriate. The goal is to ensure that participation will be useful and that you are in a position to take part consistently.

You will receive a follow-up with next steps, including whether you have been placed in an upcoming cohort and any additional information needed to prepare for participation.
