Application-Based Participation
Participation in the Community-Engaged Scholars Program is application-based.
Applications are reviewed to determine:
- Alignment with the program’s learning focus
- Readiness to participate in a 12-week learning experience
- Available capacity for the upcoming cohort
An application essay is required to help us understand applicants’ interests, goals, and ability to engage reflectively with the program. Essays are not graded or evaluated for academic writing quality. Selection does not certify skill, competence, or academic readiness.

- Requires a short application and a community engagement essay – Applicants must demonstrate a clear connection between their academic work and community engagement.

About Selection and Capacity
Selection for participation reflects program alignment, readiness to participate, and capacity for a given cohort. It does not evaluate academic quality, certify skills, or confer credentials.
