Participant Expectations (CESP)

The Community Engaged Scholars Program is a structured learning experience that takes place over a set period of time. If you participate, you will be working on your own research, writing, or community-based project while learning alongside a small group of others. The program provides guidance, structure, and dedicated time to focus, but you remain responsible for your work and your progress.

Participation involves a combination of group sessions and independent work. You can expect to attend scheduled sessions, take part in discussions, and continue working on your project between meetings. Over time, you will develop your ideas, strengthen your writing or research, and reflect on your progress as your work evolves.

The program works best when you participate consistently. Each cohort runs for a defined period, and you are expected to take part during that time, stay engaged, and make use of the structure and support available. Regular participation will make the experience more useful and help you make steady progress.

You are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and use the time to think more clearly about your work. At the same time, your progress depends on your own effort. The program creates the environment, but what you develop comes from how you use it.

This program is designed as a learning experience. It does not complete work on your behalf, and it does not replace school, academic advising, or professional services. Instead, it offers a structured space where you can focus, develop your work, and build your skills over time.
