Lighting the Way Newsletter

The Lighting the Way newsletter is a reflective writing space from the Lightstand Project, sharing insights drawn from community-based mentoring, tutoring, caregiving, and educational work. Each issue surfaces reflections from our Mentor Tips, Tutor Tips, and Parent Tips series—centering presence, dignity, and shared learning across nonprofit, community, and school-partnered contexts. Readers can expect thoughtful essays and reflections on practice, case-based writing drawn from real community contexts, curated resources referenced in the writing, and occasional announcements about public events, trainings, or opportunities. Most issues of Lighting the Way are published openly and available to all readers.

Some pieces are shared with paid subscribers as a way to sustain the time and care required to produce this writing. Paid subscriptions support the ongoing work of reflection, research, and writing. Paid subscribers may also receive additional subscriber-only essays and longer-form reflections, early access to selected written resources, and periodic Practice Notes exploring areas such as grant writing, evaluation, curriculum development, or community partnership work. You can read more about this approach in our post, “Why paid subscriptions exist.”

Whether you read for free or choose to support the work through a paid subscription, you are part of the Lighting the Way community. Welcome!
